Charity campout 2012
For the third year in a row, Wesley Prankard is camping here at Campark Resorts to raise money for people living in deplorable conditions on the Attawapiskat reserve. Niagara Falls teenager Wesley Prankard has received much attention for his fundraising efforts to help Attawapiskat First Nation — an isolated, northern rural community that sits on the shore of James Bay. The small community of 1,800 is facing a severe housing and infrastructure crisis. Many people are living in tents and unheated trailers without access to running water and electricity.
Wesley was recently named one of the top three All Star World Changers in North America – a contest created by Free the Children, National Hockey League and National Hockey League Players’ Association.
Wesley is passionate about attaining equal rights for First Nations children so that they have access to a safe home, clean water, good education and, most importantly, the right to play. Wesley has camped out the first few days of March break to raise awareness and funds for Attawapiskat and other First Nation reserves.
Interested parties may visit Wesley’s website at http://northernstarfish.org/ for more information.

Why camp in Niagara Falls, you ask?
Camping can easily create an atmosphere where you can have family time. Board games have become a thing of the past, but not when camping. You can’t carry on a good conversation during a game of Playstation, but you can during a marathon of Monopoly. Without the TV and radio blaring depressing thoughts of the day constantly, you can enjoy those that you love most.
Camping is inexpensive. Kids can get involved in campground activities. It’s fun for them and they can play in the fresh air and meet kids their own age. They get Vitamin A & D from being outdoors. There isn’t any TV, Internet or telephones. There isn’t any formaldehyde from the carpets or paneling like in hotels and motels. It’s a relaxed vacation – eat at a picnic table with your bare feet on the grass. Roast marshmallows at the campfire with your family.
Most campgrounds in Niagara Falls have shuttle busses to loads of attractions for kids and adults. There’s the mighty Niagara Falls, Maid of the Mist boat ride, Journey Behind the Falls, spectacular free fireworks displays over the Horseshoe Falls every Friday & Sunday night, Clifton Hill, the Skylon Tower, Niagara IMAX Theater, Marineland and the Butterfly Sanctuary – home to one of North America’s largest collection of free-flying butterflies.
To history buffs, Niagara is 20 historical museums, two reconstructed forts, Underground Railroad sites and the historic charm of Niagara-on-the-Lake. To shoppers, Niagara is large malls, intimate little boutiques and artisan shops featuring unique crafts and art work. To sportsmen, Niagara is 40 public golf courses, charter boat fishing on Lake Ontario and Lake Erie, hiking the Bruce Trail and the Niagara Glen and bicycling the Wine Route or Greater Niagara Circle Route. To gourmets, Niagara is fine restaurants featuring local and international cuisine. To newlyweds, Niagara is the honeymoon capital of the world. To cultural aficionados, Niagara is the Shaw Festival, Showboat Festival Theatre, and Niagara Symphony. To weekenders and day-trippers, Niagara is year-round festivals and special events.
