Charity campout 2012

For the third year in a row, Wesley Prankard is camping here at Campark Resorts to raise money for people living in deplorable conditions on the Attawapiskat reserve. Niagara Falls teenager Wesley Prankard has received much attention for his fundraising efforts to help Attawapiskat First Nation — an isolated, northern rural community that sits on the shore of James Bay. The small community of 1,800 is facing a severe housing and infrastructure crisis. Many people are living in tents and unheated trailers without access to running water and electricity.

Wesley was recently named one of the top three All Star World Changers in North America – a contest created by Free the Children, National Hockey League and National Hockey League Players’ Association.

Wesley is passionate about attaining equal rights for First Nations children so that they have access to a safe home, clean water, good education and, most importantly, the right to play. Wesley has camped out the first few days of March break to raise awareness and funds for Attawapiskat and other First Nation reserves.

Camping can easily create an atmosphere where you can have family time. Board games have become a thing of the past, but not when camping. You can’t carry on a good conversation during a game of Playstation, but you can during a marathon of Monopoly.
